Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your membership, participation in the Discord community, and use of the AWS Student Builder Group at Sejong University ("AWS SBG Sejong") portal, in strict accordance with the global AWS Student Builder Groups program framework.

1. Community Identity & Non-Commercial Purpose

AWS SBG Sejong is an independent, student-run academic organization hosted at Sejong University (Department of Computer Science and Engineering). Supported by the global AWS Student Builder Groups program, our mission is to empower student developers through hands-on cloud education, architectural excellence, and collaborative projects.

⚠️ Independent Student-Led Community Notice: Participation, leadership, or membership in AWS SBG Sejong represents a student-led volunteer extracurricular position and does not constitute an internship, employment, legal agency, or official spokesperson status with Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) or Amazon.com.

The organization has no authority to make commitments, agreements, or legal obligations on behalf of AWS. All initiatives are strictly non-commercial and educational.

2. Membership Eligibility & Account Standing

Enrolled Students: Undergraduate and graduate students currently registered at Sejong University (including students on approved leave) are eligible. All personal information, student ID, and university email provided must be accurate.
Founding Member Status: Students who join within the first 90 days of chapter establishment are designated as official Founding Members, eligible for the official Founding Member Certificate and priority consideration for certification cohorts.
Discord Integration: Connecting a verified Discord account is required to participate in community discussions, track updates, and claim the Builder role. Deactivating Discord or leaving the server may restrict member privileges.
Account Integrity: Each member is limited to one personal builder account. Impersonating other students or using falsified student credentials results in immediate termination.

3. Community Code of Conduct

AWS SBG Sejong is dedicated to providing a collaborative, harassment-free, and respectful environment for every builder. All participants must abide by these community standards and the global AWS Code of Conduct.

Respect & Collaboration

Provide constructive feedback, welcome newcomers, and encourage questions across all study channels.

Academic Honesty

Never use community resources or study channels to commit academic dishonesty or unauthorized plagiarism.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment

Any derogatory speech, harassment, hate speech, or unwanted solicitations will trigger immediate expulsion.

Ethical Cloud Practices

Unauthorized penetration testing, vulnerability exploitation, or attacking external networks is strictly forbidden.

4. Cloud Resources, Exam Vouchers & AWS Event Terms

Mandatory AWS Event Terms and Conditions

All attendees participating in chapter events, workshops, or hackathons are subject to the following mandatory requirement: “By registering for events, you certify that you have read and agree to the AWS Event Terms and Conditions (https://aws.amazon.com/events/terms/).”

Official chapter activities and RSVPs are coordinated via our official Meetup.com group.

AWS Certification Exam Voucher Rules

Complimentary Pearson VUE certification exam vouchers provided through the program are governed by strict eligibility rules:

Strictly Non-Transferable & Non-Saleable: Vouchers are personal to the verified recipient. They may never be sold, traded, transferred, or used as contest prizes or giveaways.
Readiness Requirement: Applicants must be verified students on AWS Builder Center and score 70% or higher on an official AWS practice exam.
No-Show Ineligibility: Unexcused no-shows at scheduled Pearson VUE exams forfeit eligibility for any future voucher requests.

Strictly Prohibited Cloud Activities

Cryptocurrency mining of any kind on AWS infrastructure
Commercial SaaS hosting, external monetization, or for-profit web serving
Reselling, transferring, or hoarding AWS promotional credit codes
Generating abusive traffic, running DoS testing, or relaying unauthorized email spam

※ Members remain solely responsible for managing their personal AWS accounts and monitoring billing alarms. Remember to tear down unused resources promptly.

5. Intellectual Property & Project Ownership

Students retain 100% intellectual property ownership of any code, architectural designs, and projects created during study groups, workshops, and builder events.

By presenting projects at community showcases, members grant AWS SBG Sejong permission to feature project summaries and demo screenshots on our portal and community reporting.

6. Moderation, Disciplinary Actions & Termination

Chapter leadership reserves the right to enforce disciplinary measures upon verified violations of these guidelines, including:

Stage 1: Formal warning and guidance
Stage 2: Temporary suspension of Builder roles and channel access
Stage 3: Permanent portal deactivation (isActive: false) and Discord server ban

Appeals regarding disciplinary decisions may be submitted to chapter leadership at aws@shawkath646.dev.
